A return satisfies the requirements of the City Code of Laws (Part II, Section 22) only when the tax has been paid. A late payment on a timely submittal will result in penalty and interest accruing to your account.
Always enclose a paper copy of the return with a mailed remittance; it is the only way we know to which account to credit it. If your payment ends up in "miscellaneous", you'll receive a failure to file notice for the period due and will have to provide documentation.
Online corrections to submitted returns are not possible. Amendments must be submitted via mail, fax or email. Please briefly explain the reason for the amendment on the form or in an attachment.
Deductions: find the categories that most closely fit and put them there.
If you use "Other" (line 3K or 3L) write a short description on the mailed form to validate it.
Undescribed deductions will be disallowed and an amendment will be required to clear the account of the resulting debit balance.
Always check for credits owed to you and debits due on the printed return form or in the Wheat Ridge Tax Portal.
The Wheat Ridge Tax Portal account information will be most accurate as it is "live" while the paper form indicates the account's status as of the moment it was printed.
