Over-the-counter Plan Review Program Temporarily Suspended
Beginning on June 28, 2012, the City of Wheat Ridge Building Division started a new over-the-counter plan review process, "Rapid Review". Starting on this date, and occurring every Thursday and Friday thereafter, from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Building Division will accept and process walk-in building permit applications requiring plan review for the following types of projects:
- Patio covers, gazebos, and sheds
- Garages (detached) and sheds over 120 feet
- Minor residential remodels (bathrooms, kitchens and egress windows)
- Other minor scope projects* (basement finish or renovation)
- All projects typically included in the daily over-the-counter permitting process
Staff from the City of Wheat Ridge Building and Planning Divisions will be available to process and review building permit applications during these times, allowing customers to obtain expedited building permits at the counter for a variety of projects typically required to be submitted for review.
Applicants wishing to obtain a building permit under the Rapid Review program must submit their building permit application in person to the Building Division no later than 11:30 a.m. on Thursday or Friday. Applications must be complete and accompanied by all documents and information required for the type of project to be performed. A complete description of documents and information required for each project type is contained within the Permit Submittal Checklist for that particular project type. Permit Submittal Checklists are available on the Building Division's checklist page or at the Building Division office.
Applications that are complete and accompanied by all required documents and information will be processed and a permit issued while you wait. All fees are due at the time of issuance of the permit and standard plan review fees are applicable for building permit applications processed through the Rapid Review program.
