City Treasurer Applications Now Open

Beginning Friday, Dec. 21, Wheat Ridge residents interested in applying for the position of City Treasurer may submit applications.

The City Treasurer is required to be a registered elector of the city for a period of twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding appointment, and must remain a resident of Wheat Ridge throughout his or her entire appointment.  

According to Sec. 3.10 of the City Charter, the responsibilities of the City Treasurer are as follows:

  • Establish a system of accounting and auditing for the City which shall reflect, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, the financial condition and operation of the city.
  • Serve as custodian of all public monies belonging to or under the control of the city, or any office, department, or agency of the city, and shall deposit or invest all monies as directed by the council. All interest earnings shall be the property of the city and shall be accounted for and credited to the proper city fund.
  • Collect, receive, and disburse on proper authorization, all monies receivable by the city and all other monies for which the city is responsible for holding in trust. 
  • Supervise the staff under his jurisdiction. 
  • Perform all other duties as may be required by ordinance pursuant to this Charter.

Interested Wheat Ridge residents must submit a completed application by Friday, January 25, 2019, at 5 p.m. All qualified candidates will be confirmed by email and asked to provide a three – five minute presentation to City Council on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. Applications are available on the City website City Treasurer page.
