Open Positions for Boards & Commissions

The City of Wheat Ridge is recruiting residents interested in participating in City government by volunteering on the City’s Boards and Commissions.

Generally, applicants must live in the district for which they are applying except for At-Large and sometimes exceptions can be made, so apply if interested. Applications can be found at http://www.ci.wheatridge.co.us/1127/Boards-Commissions-Openings  or at City Hall and can be submitted to the City Clerk’s office, 7500 W. 29th Ave.  Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. March 27, 2019

An Opening exists on the following boards and commissions by District, and/or At Large

 Board of Adjustment, At Large (fills a term to expire 3/2/20): – Hears requests for variances and waivers of the zoning ordinance, temporary use permits, floodplain zoning ordinance, and sign code and interprets these ordinances.  The Board holds public hearings on all applications and appeals.

Cultural Commission, District IV (fills a term to expire 3/2/21): Promotes artistic endeavors within the City and makes recommendations on issues concerning culture and the arts to City Council, promotes the arts, including for-profit and non-profit art organizations and seeks citizen input and advice on the management of public art, assists the City in grant proposals and fund raising activities.

 Housing Authority, District I (fills a term to expire 3/2/21): Authority makes recommendations to the Council regarding housing development /redevelopment proposals and implementation strategies.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and ratified by City Council.

 Planning Commission, District III (Fills a Term to expire 3/2/21): Develops and prepares a master plan for the physical, economic and social development of the City.  The Commission holds public hearings on zoning cases, development plans and subdivision plats, conditional use permits and special use permits.  The Commission recommends revisions to the City’s development regulations.
