Liquor License Authority

The Liquor License Authority (LLA) is responsible for licensing liquor establishments in the City and for conducting show cause hearings for alleged liquor license violations. They meet as needed every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 9 a.m.

Beginning in February of 2020, during the Stay at  Home order and subsequent restrictions imposed by the state and Jefferson County Public Health the Board granted two new liquor licenses for FMB (Beer) and held five successful show cause hearings.

The Board was also involved in advising the City with regards to a new City resolution enacted for liquor license applicants to satisfy the needs and desires requirements in multiple ways during declared city emergencies.  This along with a new LLA resolution requiring quasi-judicial show cause hearings to be held virtually, via a remote participation platform, during the same type of declared city emergencies. Meetings are open to the public.
