COVID-19 Update - April 10, 2020

While we all continue to help contain the spread of the Coronavirus by staying home as much as possible, I’d also like to suggest a few things you can do while you may be managing your child’s online learning or working from home.

1) Take just a few minutes and complete your 2020 Census. It’s easy, it’s confidential, and by completing your survey you ensure that Wheat Ridge receives designated funds based on an accurate population count. You can fill it out online, on the phone or by completing a paper copy and putting it in the mail. You can also participate in our contest to guess the City’s population by going online to WhatsUpWheatridge.com.

2) Make a cloth mask. If you have a handkerchief or face mask from skiing you don’t even need a sewing machine. If you are handy with a needle and thread, here are some simple directions from the Colorado Mask Campaign

3) Order take out or curb side pickup from a Wheat Ridge restaurant, market, or butcher shop (check out Eat-Ridge.com)

4) Purchase a gift card online from a local retailer or restaurant to use at a later date (See BizRidge.com)

5) Stay in shape by working out at home, walking, or riding your bike. Check out these quick “how to” videos created by your favorite parks and recreation staff members on the City website or Facebook.

6) Start to work on your garden or potted plants. Check out this video from our parks and recreation staff for ideas.

7) Learn how to provide public comment or contribute to Citizens’ Right to Speak during City Council meetings by watching a City Council training video.

8) And maybe my most important suggestion for what to do while we all practice safe distancing and reduce our time away from home: take care of one another, with creativity and love.

We will see each other soon and, in the meantime, please stay well. #DoOurPart @WRInThisTogether #Census2020

We are in this together. Stay safe. Mayor Bud Starker
