COVID-19 Update - December 16, 2020

Although we’ve begun to see some positive signs related to the number of COVID cases, we must remain vigilant to control the spread over the next few weeks as the vaccine begins distribution. The Governor has extended the mask order and in addition we can all do our part to wash our hands, and socially distance. JCPH also released tips to help us navigate the holidays.

• Stay at home if you are sick.
• If you have symptoms of COVID-19, get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result. If positive, continue to self-isolate according to guidelines from CDPHE.
• Limit your celebration to those who are in your household or consider virtual options!
• Avoid large crowds at all times (e.g., shopping in stores just before, on or after holidays; parades that draw crowds, etc.).
• Get your flu shot.
• Know your travel risks, or be willing to cancel travel plans altogether.
• Take care of your mental health, and check in on others.
• Remember that alcohol and/or drug use can reduce your vigilance and increase risky behavior

You or your family may not have needed support before but times have changed. If you need help with food, finding a job, or other support, and are not sure where to turn, Jeffco community partners can help. http://www.jeffco.us/community

While we look forward to having vaccines available in 2021 to help in the battle against COVID, I want to wish all of you a safe holiday and a healthy New Year.
