COVID-19 Update - March 19, 2020

As you know, all City of Wheat Ridge facilities are currently closed to public access. The initial public access restrictions were initially listed as being in effect through March 29; however, that date now only applies to City Hall. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) extended the closure order today until April 30, 2020, for the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, the Active Adult Center and the Anderson Building. Your City of Wheat Ridge elected officials and staff pride ourselves on responsive service to the community and so it was a difficult decision to close our facilities to the public, but based on the risk posed by COVID-19 to our staff, residents, business owners, and visitors, we believe it was the best decision to help slow the spread of this potentially deadly disease. Last night our Mayor also declared a civil emergency for Wheat Ridge. This will enable us to access federal and state funds and any additional resources we might need under the states of emergencies declared by our Governor and the President. The Mayor has called a Special Council Meeting for Friday, March 20 at 3 p.m. to extend the City’s civil emergency indefinitely and address any additional items related to the closure. To listen in, please call 1-866-899-4679 and use code 237-689-901.

While the City is closed to public access, please be assured that we are doing everything we can to provide access to City services as follows:
• Municipal Court is canceled for all in-person appearances. The Court window is also closed. Call 303-235-2835 with questions.

Please continue to check for updates on the City website www.bit.ly/WRCOVID-19 as this information changes daily. We will also continue to send Emergency Preparedness Alerts on a regular basis.

Please stay well and remember to check on your at-risk neighbors and friends who might need help or simply to hear a friendly voice on the phone.
