Liquor Occupation Tax Waiver

In order to assist Wheat Ridge businesses impacted by the pandemic, the City of Wheat Ridge is offering temporary relief by waiving the Liquor Occupation Taxes (LOT) through an approved application and review process. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021.

To be eligible for a waiver of 2021 Liquor Occupation Taxes (LOT), businesses must:

  • Pay LOT as licensed for on-premises liquor consumption (Hotel/Restaurants, Taverns, Beer and Wine, and Brewpubs)
  • Demonstrate at least 20% revenue reduction in 2020 as compared with 2019
  • If newly opened in 2020, demonstrate at least 20% revenue reduction over projections
  • Be in good standing with the City of Wheat Ridge in regard to licensing and sales tax remittance

Eligible business can apply online for a LOT waiver to be reviewed and approved by the City Clerk’s office.

If a LOT form has been submitted in 2021, and the applicant is seeking a refund, a completed ACH and W9 form must also be submitted. Refunds will ONLY be made through electronic transfer via ACH.
