Building Inspection Request Form

  1. To request a building inspection, please complete the following form in its entirety. The City does not provide same day inspections. Inspections received by 11:59 p.m. will be scheduled for the following day, unless a different date is specified on the request.

    Please have all work completed prior to requesting your inspection. Inspectors can arrive anytime after 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. A reinspect fee may apply if inspector arrives and work is not ready for inspection.

  2. Update 11/20/2020: Please read the following and confirm *

    If the GC or person requesting the inspection is sick or showing any symptoms of being sick, a replacement will need to be on-site. The areas in need of inspection must be cleared of all workers during the time the inspection is taking place with the building inspector. Face coverings must be worn at all times. The inspection will be terminated if the person on-site is showing any symptoms or any of these safety protocols are not followed.

  3. Is the property occupied?*

  4. I acknowledge the inspection will be terminated if the GC or person requesting inspection on-site is showing any symptoms of being sick, a replacement person will need to be on site.

  5. City of Wheat Ridge offices are closed Thursday, November 26 & Friday, November 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

    Inspections will not be conducted on these days. Please request a valid date. Thank you and have a safe Thanksgiving Holiday.

  6. The City does not provide same day inspections. Only Inspections received by 11:59 p.m. will be scheduled for the following day.

    If final inspections are being requested, all applicable finals must be ready and called for the same day.

    For Zoning and Landscaping inspections, please call 303-235-2846 one week in advance.
    For Public Works, Right of Way and Drainage inspections, please call 303-235-2861 one week in advance.

  8. Refer to the inspection record issued with your permit or to this inspection list for all inspection types.

  9. Inspectors do not call ahead of inspection. The contact information is only used for questions regarding your inspection request .

  10. Inspectors do not email ahead.

  11. Is there a lockbox on the property?

    *Homeowner of record must be on-site for all inspections conducted for a homeowner permit.

  12. Does the Inspector have permission to enter the property, including through gates and into backyard if necessary to conduct the requested inspection?*

    Inspections will not be completed without permission to enter any area needed to conduct the requested inspection, including through gates and backyards.

  13. Will a ladder be set up, if applicable?*

    Inspectors do not bring ladders. A ladder is required to be on site for all roof inspections and any project that may require upper story or roof access.

  14. Is there a dog on the property?

    If there is a dog on site, the dog must be contained safely away from the area of inspection.

  15. SIGNATURE OF UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT

  16. I understand that the permit card for this project must be on site.*

  17. I understand that if a requested inspection cannot be performed due to inclement weather, the contractor and/or property owner are responsible for canceling the requested inspection no later than 8 a.m. on the day of inspection. If an inspector arrives to perform a requested inspection that cannot be conducted and has not been canceled, a re-inspection fee of $60 will be assessed and will be required to be paid prior to the next inspection. *

  18. I understand that inspections will not be performed on subcontracted work done by an unlicensed subcontractor. Discovery of unlicensed contractors may result in work stoppages and a municipal summons. *

  19. I understand that by requesting a final inspection, I am certifying that the work on this project has been satisfactorily completed in accordance with the building code. *
